About KitchenMax
KitchenMax reads the safety markings stamped into a piece of kitchenware — from a photo — and turns them into something you can act on: whether it can go in the dishwasher, the microwave, the oven or the freezer, which dishwasher program it wants, and what all those little symbols on the underside actually mean.
It exists because those markings are written in a symbol language almost nobody was ever taught, pressed into the plastic or glazed over so faintly that most of us still guess — then a favourite container comes out of the dishwasher warped, or a glass dish cracks in a hot oven. KitchenMax's job is to make the markings as easy to use as they should have been all along.
Who makes it
KitchenMax is built by Weblox, an independent software studio based in Israel — the same small team behind LaundryMax, which does the same job for the care labels in clothes. The symbol guide on this site started as our own research into what the markings really mean, checked against the resin identification codes and manufacturers' own published care instructions.
Where it runs
KitchenMax is an Android app, coming to Google Play as soon as it clears Google's testing programme. This website is where to learn about it: the symbol reference, pricing and our policies.
How we make money
The free plan is supported by advertising, and KitchenMax Premium is a paid subscription that lifts the scan allowance and removes ads. That's the whole model — we don't sell personal data, and our privacy policy spells out exactly what is collected and why.
